OTHERS ABOUT ANNELIES

Browsing through the work of Annelies van Dooren is a celebration.

With a sense of color and composition, she confidently captures her subjects with precise strokes. She fearlessly experiments with materials and subjects.

Her artistic style is guided by her heart.

She intuitively and directly puts things on paper.

She knows how to capture objects and people in motion, on their way from nothing to nowhere, but purposefully in the strength of the moment.

In her work, I see the reflection of a curious life attitude in which ‘movement’ serves as the common thread for change, for being on the journey.

Her work contains frozen moments full of energy and vitality.

I am very curious about the work that is yet to come.

The choices the artist will make regarding subjects and materials are of great interest.

A large white canvas.

On it, lines and shapes in vibrant colors are applied with speed.

Seemingly random.

I interpret the drawing as a choreography.

Two blue spots moving in space, leaving traces within.

I follow the traces drawn in blue and orange, the swirling green swirls, colliding red and yellow shapes, and… I hear music.

An Ensor-like picture.

A snapshot of a party.

Red figures against a blue background.

Lavish, high-contrast, full of movement and joy, entrusted to the paper with a spontaneous hand.
